An unusual Victorian needlework hanging wall pocket, stitched by William Burwise with a verse relating to his illness and confinement and dated 1852, 25 x 5in.

This lot is actually called a needlehusief as inscribed at the top and dated August 24 1852, relating to a soldier injured in the Crimean War with five individual pockets all with their original needlework loops, at the front no unpicked threads spotted, generally in good condition and the colours very good, the bottom flap which is in inscribed 'When you are down where is your friend' appears to be a needle wallet attached at the bottom, there is some slight marking to the cloth backing and occasional hole possibly worm hole but not showing on the front, no evidence of live worm present.
