Lot 288 , Barraud & Lunds, Cornhill, London. An impressive mid 19th century oak cased Gothic revival bracket clock

Barraud & Lunds, 41 Cornhill, London. A Victorian oak Gothic style chiming bracket clock, in ornate carved case with cluster columns to the corners, silvered dial numbered 2775, and signed three train movement striking on five gongs, case 34.5in., bracket 15in.

Provenance: purchased from Haslam & Whiteway Ltd., 105 Kensington Church Street, London, 24th August 1977 for £1,100.

Case in very good order with a rich walnut toned colour, one or two tiny nicks to the extremities of the carving but essentially all complete, dial looks to be the original silvering certainly in very good condition, blacking to hands slightly rubbed, fabric lining to the back door now fatigued, brass fret work panel slightly dented and the horizontal strut supporting it on the inside is now coming away, movement looks complete though not tested for timekeeping, comes with heavy brass pendulum and a key which clicks the front door lock but does not hold it shut although this does push shut, the back door key is missing which leaves it every so slightly ajar, bracket in good order.
