Estimate £300-500
This piece has been either very heavily sunbleached and it is in our opinion that it was deliberately bleached in the 50's, the top has a number of old scattered surface scratches of varying degree along with small dirt and pit marks, the ormolu has been silvered again fitting in with the trend of the 1950's, there is some cracking and splitting in the veneers particularly the panels in the frieze with a small amount of marquetry missing in the central top left panel, Gillows stamp is to the top of the door frame stamped GILLOW & CO, a richer colour shows to the top left corner of the door where finger grease has bought it back to some of its original golden walnut colour, internally there is one central shelf and the whole of the interior has also been bleached to match, comes with two working keys, one for the central door, another for the side doors, locks look to be original, shelves for the sides on the right hand side are showing some splitting, the left hand side not so bad but equally bleached, some scuffing around the foot particularly the front projecting corners, overall this piece is going to need a careful re-colouring but otherwise is in fair condition.
