Joseph Robinson Kirk (1820-1894) RHA. A white marble bust of a gentleman, possibly the late O'Bryen Bellingham Esq., MD inscribed verso 'J R Kirk Sculpscit in Marmore 1857', height 26.5in.

O'Bryen Bellingham (1803-1857), a distinguished Dublin surgeon of the day, published a treatise on the diseases of the heart. Kirk's posthumous bust of Bellingham was shown at the Royal Hibernian Academy Annual Exhibition, 1859.
The marble is dirty, there are a number of small chips, the largest to the left side of the jaw (approx 1cm long), there are surface scratches and scuffs, the back right corner of the base has an old repair, the lower edges of the base have numerous chips and losses, the largest approx 2.5cm long.
