A Chinese black satin robe, 19th century, decorated in Peking knot and satin stitch embroidery with butterflies, figures and birds some wear
Estimate £200-300

length 105cm, the collar has almost certainly been added later as it overlaps some of the embroidered decoration around the shoulder area and the same is true of the sleeves, there is some wear and freying to the black satin ground on the front of the robe on each side, some restitching under the arms and again it looks as though the borders are on the sides and around the bottom have been added later, there is general small areas of grubbiness and slight wear, otherwise in reasonable condition, this robe has definately been altered.
