This clock comes for sale as part of a deceased estate and has been in the same family for 30 - 40 years of more, the case has seen some restoration over the years, the top moulding has certainly seen repair and repolishing with some small replacements, there is a pierced thin embossed brass plate beneath that sitting above the door, a horizontal band at the top of the trunk door shows fading and discolouration to the marquetry, there is further discolouration and bleaching to the marquetry in the box base with some small losses of veneers, the sides are plain walnut showing fair wear and tear and old repair but no notable faults, dial in good condition with some light wear to the numerals and a few spots, movement in good order, comes with brass pendulum and brass cased weights, a label inside the door inscribed with details of the maker, in addition stating the movement is of eight days duration, has five pillars between the plates, displays all original arbours and collets, it has outside countwheel striking, it is attached to the backboard by a metal bracket - this displays 17th century wrought iron nails which have never been disturbed as does the seatboard where attached to the sides of the case'.
The left and right sides of the backboard have additional timbers applied to them, the runners for the hood also look to have been re-applied, the sides of the case just beneath the seatboard have been cut away at the front to allow the dial to sit flush, comes with case keys but no winding key.
