A Louis XV ormolu mounted kingwood bombe commode stamped L.M.Malle (Louis Noël Malle, maître 1765), Paris ca. 1770. with serpentine rouge marble top, two short and two long drawers, W.4ft 2in. D.2ft 2in. H.2ft 11in.
Estimate £3,000-5,000
Signs of old cracking and minor chipping to the marble top, the extreme front left corner looks to have been broken away and stuck back at some point with a fairly effective repair, main body of good rich colour with a fair state of polish, some small dents, chips and slight cracking scattered throughout as to be expected from age, but nothing of anything noted severity, makers stamp to the top of the body left front, hidden by the marble. Pins from the handles project into the drawers approx. 1 inch, this is most notable on the middle drawer, less so on the others, some splitting and separation to the drawer linings, a little wear to the back left leg, but overall fair to good condition.
