A Chinese silver and enamel vase, early 20th century, the bowl with calligraphic inscriptions in green and red enamel, flanked by a pair of enamelled phoenix handles, stamped maker's marks, 20.2cm

Provenance: William Moule and his family, who were Christian missionaries in Ningpo (Ningbo) and Shanghai in the late 19th and early 20th century; thence by descent.
There are small losses to the enamel on the handles on the phoenixes heads and protruding tail feathers, the bowl of the cup of the pushed in slightly on each side and there is a small bend to the edge of the foot.
Weight of cup is 253 grams.
