Lot 110 , A pair of painted and giltwood blackamoor torcheres, H.6ft
A pair of painted and giltwood blackamoor torcheres, H.6ft
Estimate £1,200-1,800
These blackamoors appear to date from the past 30 - 40 years or so, upper branches are painted iron, look like at one point they had frosted glass flambeau shades which have now been replaced with modern light bulbs, it would be strongly recommended to have these re-wired and these are being sold as purely decorative objects rather than lights as the wiring is clearly not fit for use.
The female figure has some chipping around the base of the branches and sits a little loosely in her hand, this would need re-fitting, otherwise both figures have minor dents and scratchs scattered throughout and wear as would be expected to the tips of the square bases and feet, overall should restored to good effect.
Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to request a condition report on any lots upon which they intend to bid, prior to placing a bid.
