Relined and cleaned with the past 10 - 20 years or so, canvas still has a slight sag to it, rather shiny varnish over a paint which has pronounced craquelure running throughout most of the work which is just starting to left particularly in the skin tones and the paler colours in the coat, some signs of retouching in the forehead as well as what look like later white marking around the fringe of the hair on the left and through some of the skin tones also showing beneath the nose with one spot on the chin, no labels or inscriptions verso, associated parcel gilt green painted frame in fair order but with some small knocks and cracks, comes for sale from a private vendor in Brighton,no further provenance known.
