Oil on original canvas which has a very slight sag to it, paint looks very dirty and clearly not touched for many years, slight stretcher marks showing particularly across the top also a fine but stable craqeulure which runs through much of the paint, a few tiny losses of paint from the extreme top margin notably at 12 o'clock and in the top right corner, a shallow dent is in the thatch of the left building, between the green tree branches and the chimney, this does not appear to have gone through the paint or the canvas, further small loss of paint near the bottom left corner just above the signature, and similary a little flaking lost from the lower right corner, housed in the original gilt gesso frame which suffers from some cracking through the moulding and some minor chipping to the outer edge.
