A set of twelve Meissen ornithological dinner plates, 19th century, each painted to the centre with a study of a bird perched on a branch, within ozier moulded borders, painted with insects, underglaze blue crossed swords marks and various impressed numbers, 24cm

Nine of the plates have larger underglaze blue crossed swords marks, one of which has a shallow splinter chip to the underside of the dish with a tiny splinter loss to the gilding on the very edge, three of the plates may be slightly later, they are smaller crossed swords marks although they still have flicks to the hilts with an impressed no.56 over I and all three in good condition.
