Lot 912 , A George III silver childs whistle with coral teether & 3 others.

A George III silver childs whistle with coral teether & 3 others.

A George III silver child's whistle with coral teether and engraved with foliate decoration, Mary Troby, London, 180?, 5in, together with three other later child's rattles, two silver and one gilt metal.
Estimate £200-300

The George III teether may well have had bells as there is visible signs of repair where the bells would have been. Also the silver is damaged where the teether joins the body.
The small rattle inscribed "Darling" has some knocks to the piece in general most visible around the mouthpiece. The mother of pearl has a hairline crack.
The 800 standard rattle has two bells missing and probably a replaced teether which isn't coral. Decoration a little tired.
The gilt metal rattle has an issue with the underside of the mouthpiece, which doesn't appear to be a repair, maybe just poorly constructed. There is some visible wear to the gilding in places, mainly visible around the mouthpiece and the join with the teether.
