A pair of Chinese huanghuali and brass mounted horseshoe-back armchairs, quanyi, 19th century the central curved rectangular splat carved in relief with a goat and prunus roundel, the framed panelled seat on round corner legs joined by stretchers, 99cm high x 65.7cm wide x 45.7cm deep

Condition:
The first armchair has some slight shrinkage to the seat panel. There is a split along the rear stretcher of the chair only visible from underneath. The brass mounts to the horseshoe shaped back have some heavy tarnish to them. The underside of the seat and seat rails has flaking to the painted finish. The second armchair has a small amount of shrinkage to the seat panel. There is flaking to the painted finish on the underside of seat. There is a small hole and loss to the underside of the left-hand stretcher. It’s possible that a section of timber has been replaced on the lower front stretcher, otherwise in reasonable condition.
