An exhibition size Japanese Satsuma pottery vase, by Kinkozan, Meiji period, painted with ducks on a pond amid reeds, the reverse with pheasants and other birds amid prunus, reserved on a cobalt blue ground, polychrome and gilt decorated with flowers and foliage, lappeted border to the neck, gilt four character mark ‘Kinkozan so’ to base, 46cm high, star crack to one side

Condition:
The shoulder of the vase is very grubby and would benefit from a clean there is some occasional wear to the gilding particularly on the rim. The panel painted with pheasants has a star crack to the left of the Prunus tree which can be seen in photographs where it’s stained slightly. It is difficult to see the crack on the interior.
