Letter from First World War soldier Leonard Cecil Barber on Norfolk Regiment headed paper, to Lady Ottoline Morell (1873-1938), best known as hostess at Garsington to many of the most renowned literary & artistic figures of the early Twentieth Century. She was also a keen pacifist during WW1 and had encouraged Siegfried Sassoon (mentioned in the letter) in his famous anti-war statement. Sassoon himself had also been invalided to Somerville College, Oxford, in 1916, following a bout of fever in the trenches. The letter accompanies a copy of Barber’s collection of poetry, Sandbag Ballads. Condition - fair
