A Chinese blue and white bottle vase, Transitional, Chongzhen period, c.1630-1640, the globular body painted with a cat grasping a butterfly in its mouth and the black bird in-flight amongst butterflies and insects above rockwork and flowers, a bird also in-flight, the neck decorated with dragons amid floral sprays, 36.2cm high, hairline crack to neck
Provenance - this vase has been in the same family for more than 70 years.

Condition:
Typical minor glaze imperfections and occasional minor scratches and scuffs to the glaze. There is a 28 mm long hairline crack extending down from the rim. There are a few small shallow splinter chips to the unglazed foot and some small firing cracks to the inner part of a small section of the foot, otherwise in good condition with no restoration detected.
