A rare late 17th century (1670-80) Flemish bobbin lace canopy possibly for a baby’s bercelonette (cradle), made for a wealthy European high ranking family, possibly royalty, worked in three sections, into a canopy shape, using fine hand spun linen thread, intricately worked into highly ornate designed lace panels, then joined together to create a canopy. 162cm long x 132cm wide. Condition - there are two darker marks to the lace, that with professional conservation cleaning can be removed. There appears to be no visible damage or breakages to the lace, which suggests being so fine it has not been used greatly, if at all.
