Condition:
Publisher’s original black cloth clean and well preserved, with the silver lettering to the upper board and spine remaining bright; very slight rubbing to corners at foot of spine. Contents generally clean, with some toning to the text block and page edges; front free endpaper with some offsetting and very light spotting continuing onto the following leaf, and two small pencil inscriptions. Very occasional yellow/brown marks to the lower margins of a few leaves. In the original dust jacket, retaining the 10s. 6d. net price; jacket with some toning and light signs of handling, particularly to the pale rear panel and flaps, but presenting well overall. Small areas of expert restoration to dust wrapper with no loss. Front flap with the printed acknowledgement “Jacket devised by the author and executed by Kenneth Lewis”; small contemporary bookseller’s stamp to rear flap giving the title, author, publisher and 10s. 6d. net price. The volume is additionally preserved in a custom-made leather clam-shell box.
