A Russian 84 zolotnik gilt white metal and enamel presentation beaker vase, assay master Victor Savinikov, Moscow 1886, of tapering form, master possibly Isaac Minikes, the ground with two enamelled oval panels of St. Basil's Cathedral and the monument to Minin and Pozharsky, within a two colour enamel scrolling border, with Cyrillic inscription which translates in English to 'From the Board of the Vladikavkaz Railway Company', purported to have been a gift for the engineer who participated in the development of the railway, built between 1875 and 1918. The Vladikavkaz Railway was one of the most important railway systems in the Southern Russian Empire. It played a major role in the opening up the North Caucasus to trade, industry and military transport during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Height 20.3cm, gross weight 11.8oz.
