Literature- the AVFC History website states ‘William R. Haggart, known as Billy Haggart, and nicknamed Cock played as a left back for the club. Billy represented Villa in the 1898-99 and 1899-00 seasons appearing twice. Billy was born in Edinburgh in August 1874 and made his debut for the club as a 24 year old on the 22nd October 1898. Billy had signed Albert from Edinburgh Royal for £40 and made 1 appearance in each of Villa’s title winning seasons of 1898-99 & 1899-00. Billy’s final appearance for Villa came on 7th October 1899 almost a complete year after his first, following which he returned to his native Scotland to play for Partick Thistle’.
