A framed Adam and Eve finely embroidered sampler, by Ann Elenor Molyneu, dated July 1830, Drayton, Oxon, embroidered on fine linen with multi-coloured silks and geometric stylistic floral border, with a short verse above

A framed Adam and Eve finely embroidered sampler, by Ann Elenor Molyneu, dated July 1830, Drayton, Oxon, embroidered on fine linen with multi-coloured silks and geometric stylistic floral border, with a short verse above a large central scene of Adam and Eve between the apple tree with large flowers and planters each side, above her name, date, with a smaller panel of spot motifs of dogs, birds and flowers below, 32.5cm wide x 43cm high. Condition - there is fading to some colours due to sunlight. Sadly there are moth holes under the verse and above the date, on some motifs the colour has run where the sampler has become damp. But the stitching has no moth holes and the rest of ground fabric is solid. The frame needs cleaning and waxing.
