An early Victorian split pearl set gold pendant brooch, inset with a portrait miniature of bearded gentleman in uniform, with hair work back panel, overall 4.2 x 2.5cm, gross weight 11.6 grams

Condition:
This is possibly an earlier brooch re-purposed at a later date, the suspension loop does look ok and is hinged to the body, the pin however does look to be an adaptation and later replaced, hair work is fairly crude but may be original, portrait miniature does not look to be on ivory, thought to be on paper or parchment, showing some fine crackling in the paint and with a few loose strands but overall fair to good condition.
