Oil on canvas relined within the past 10 - 20 years or so, canvas remains tight, paint rather dirty, with a fine but stable craquelure through much of it, one scuffed scratch on the right at 4 o'clock beside the horseman in the red jacket, further light markings showing above in the trees and a very light surface dent in the left side grey horse, with other small marks in the trees above, otherwise a hint of old stretcher marks showing on the left and signs of retouching around the margins, no sign of any signature, housed in a later gilt frame which has small losses to the corners, no labels or inscriptions verso.
