A pair of Japanese Satsuma pottery bottle vases, by Yabu Meizan, Meiji period, each finely painted with children in rafts floating on a river, the neck with a helix brocade design within keywork and lappeted borders, gilt four character seal marks to base, 12.5cm high

One vase has a 10mm x 8mm chip to the inside of the rim which is slightly visible from the exterior with an associated hairline crack extending downward from this, which is only really visible on the inside, both vases have some slight staining to the inside of the necks and some wear to the gilding on the rims, there are other tiny areas of wear to the gilding all over, the vase in better condition has some wear to the gilt mark underneath.
