Both oils on canvas with old relinings, canvas remain tight perhaps a little dirty with some fine scattered craquelure but overall look to be in good condition, both are housed under glass in original carved giltwood frames which are now a little tatty and have the titles of the sitters inscribed at 6 o'clock, both have old inscribed labels - Elizth Wife of Richd Gorges Esq of Eye Court in the County Hereford, she was daughter of D.. John Roda Prebendary of Hereford, Rector of St Owen's and Vicar of St Peter's in that City, the other with label Meliora, daughter of Henry Gorges Esq of Eye Court in the County of Hereford, many years representative in parliament for that County, she was a lady of uncommon attainments & was niece to the Countess of Coningsby & to Lady Healy, OB 11th Febry 1744.
