Lot 156 , Eliza Simmance for Royal Doulton, a pair of tall Art Nouveau vases, c.1905, 39cm
Eliza Simmance for Royal Doulton, a pair of tall Art Nouveau vases, c.1905, wrythen moulded and tube-lined with curving flowers and rush leaves, impressed mark and incised marks '792' and 'ES', with assistants marks, 39cm
Estimate £400-600
The pair of vases have typical minor glaze imperfections and occasional scratches to the glaze. The brown glaze around the edge of the foot is matt in places and one vase has three indentations to the foot that look like splinters where I believe the foot stuck to the floor in manufacture (may be at the biscuit hardening stage as they have a sheen) but these do not extend to the outside edge, otherwise in good condition with no restoration, chips or cracks detected.
Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to request a condition report on any lots upon which they intend to bid, prior to placing a bid.
