Estimate £2,000-3,000
Label to inside of frieze 'treated for woodworm 1969'. There are some small losses to the walnut veneer and carving on the frieze and a strip of timber on the inset behind the the front gadrooned edge moulding has been replaced. Some occasional worm holes to the walnut frieze which have wax filler. The carved walnut rocaille and walnut veneered frieze is applied to carved oak rails which have some evidence of treated old worm damage. There are some areas of old dry varnish in the deep areas of carving and the front frieze varnish is dry and flaking where it has been exposed to sunlight. The legs have some ebonising to the inside and a slight silvery colour to the polish. The marble may be contemporary to the table and is particularly heavy as it has a slab of slate attached to the underside where some old repairs have been made to the marble top rear right and to a crack which extends from the rear left, half way to the front. All of the marble repairs have been filled and polished.
