Charcoal and chalk on a dark olive grey coloured paper, one or two small scuffs noted, a small nick in the background just to the left of his nose, and a more notable short tear running from the 9 of the date up into his neck, otherwise some tiny dent and crease marks along with one or two dirt spots, housed in a stepped card mount and glazed gilt frame, an oil sketch of trees in a landscape verso which is not signed and looks in need of a clean.
