Lot 414 , A mid 19th century French red boullework card table, W.2ft 11in. D.1ft 6in. H.2ft 7in.
A mid 19th century French red boullework card table, with serpentine top and ormolu mounted cabriole legs, W.2ft 11in. D.1ft 6in. H.2ft 7in.
Estimate £400-600
This table has lost a fair proportion of its boullework with at least 50% missing from the top, this shows as a matted dull purplish tone, most of the red tortoiseshell is still present although there are some losses otherwise the ebonised edging shows some scuffing rubbing and chipping, the interior looks original and complete, ormolu mounts in good order, the frieze is in good complete condition but all of the legs show some degree of loss to either boulle or brass work albeit small amounts showing scattered in sections, still remains a rather decorative piece and this is reflected in the low estimate.
