Lot 19 , A WWI Royal Field Artillery officers dress uniform and accessories, on a mannequin,
A WWI Royal Field Artillery officer's dress uniform and accessories, on a mannequin, of the type worn by 2nd Lieutenant Richard Henry Moore in photographs in another lot in this sale, with Sam Browne, cased binoculars and swagger stick
Estimate £100-150
The officer's cap which is made by J. Collett Ltd London is a size 6 and seven eighths and dated 1945, so is a WWII example, there is some occasional moth damage to the felt of the cap all over and the lining has come away slightly and the plastic waterproofing on top has dried out, the jacket has a small hole half way up on the left sleeve showing on the front and a few small holes at the very bottom of the jacket which are covered when the jacket is folded over, the back of the jacket has a small hole on the collar and the upper centre of the back and where the right shoulder blade is again these are fairly minor, the Sam Browne is a little bit waterstained on the back with some slight white hue to it in places, this hasn't happened when it has been on the mannequin, the trousers appear to be ok, the boots are coming away from the sole on the right boot and are fairly heavily worn, the pistol case doesn't appear to be marked so may not be an original WWI example might be a decade or two later, the leather case to the binoculars is stamped W.Swart 1917, the binoculars inside are made by A. Tubeuf Paris and have a double broad sword arrow stamped on them and MKVWIDE 27123, the eye surrounds are a bit dented to one side and the black lacquer finish is a bit chipped and worn in places, the leather on the barrels is original, the optics are good and the mechanism works fine. The swagger stick is of type which could have been produced from the 1920's-1940's. The mannequin is obviously late 20th century and has some chips and wear to places, the right leg appears to be detached and held with some tape which you can feel crinkling beneath the trousers.
