Lot 98 , A Minton figure group candlestick. c.1840-5, height 21cm, firing cracks
A Minton figure group candlestick. c.1840-5, modelled with a male and female dancer flanking a nozzle, height 21cm, firing cracks
Estimate £200-300
This group is based upon Minton factory numbers 108 and 109 which appear in the next lot.
Ex Geoffrey Godden Collection.
There is restoration to the gentleman's right arm with a visible crack in the area of the restoration and there is a loss to the lady's hat on the brim, a slight crack on her left wrist, presumably the nozzle that would have fitted into the central tree is lacking and there are a number of firing cracks to the base underneath which have now gone through to full size cracks, some of which are slightly open but we had to put some clear tape on them to stabilize the area on the unglazed base.
