Nathaniel Seddon, St James's, London An early 18th century walnut longcase clock, the hood with doric columns over plain trunk and long front door, raised on a plinth base (reduced), the 11.75 inch brass dial with Indian mask spandrels, Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleur de lys half hour and cruciform half quarter hour markers, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds and calendar aperture, the two train weight driven movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on a bell, the plates united by five knopped and finned pillars, H.6ft 9in.

The case is in fair condition with some small losses to the hood moulding, usual shrinkage cracks, loose and detached sections of moulding to the door, the base has been significantly reduced - nearly one half, and the base mouldings are untidy, the cheeks are built up, the seat board is a replacement, the dial is tarnished, dirty and lacks any silvering, the minute hand is a replacement. The movement is dirty but retains some polish, the movement functions, the gut lines are old and may well need replacing, the escape wheel and arbor may well be replacements. Two brass lined weights and pendulum are present.
