Lot 883 , An oak triple panel coffer, W.101cm
An oak triple panel coffer, W.101cm
Estimate £100-150
Width 3ft 4in.
Depth 1ft 7in.
Height 1ft 11in.
Good highly polished mid to dark oak colour, old panel joint to the top showing, this coffer looks to be a reproduction of an old oak coffer with deliberate faults included to justify its age, notably one small hole showing near the top right corner where the upper right side meets the front, and both front feet have been cut away at 45 degrees with later timbers attached, back left foot has also been re-built so possibly there is an old carcass somewhere in here with later timbers attached, overall has a good decorative look.
