Oil on canvas relined 20 - 30 years ago or more, canvas remains tight, paint looks a little dirty, some fine light and stable craquelure showing in the sky but not elsewhere, no sign of any signature, a 1 inch square patch in the centre in the trees which has been retouched to good effect, old Russian collection label verso numbered 361, Christie's stencil XXS904, old wax collectors seal mark and incised detail no.9, traces of old labels removed, attribution on the frame to Ludolf de Jonge, giving dates 1616-1697.
Housed in an old but later ornate giltwood and gesso frame which has some small chips and losses, comes for sale from a private collection in London.
