Lot 26 , An early 20th century Austrian child in a bed musical automaton, length 14in.
An early 20th century Austrian 'child in a bed' musical automaton, modelled with a girl sleeping in bed who sits up, kisses her doll and rocks it back to sleep, housed in the original card box, with original key, length 14in.
Estimate £400-600
The clock mechanism appears to be working fine, the figure sits up and pulls the small doll towards her as if to kiss it and when she lays down her eyes close, the small bisque doll in her hands is held in position with some copper wires possibly she has come loose from this slightly, the pink silk is almost certainly faded and a little bit grubby as are the lace borders, the wrought metal frame has a solder repair to each side and it looks as though it has possibly been later gold painted when these repairs were done, complete with the original box and lid, the box bearing a label which says '1ST.? No.4041, looks like Puppenbette ... 81 Made in Austria'.
