A large Chinese blue and white baluster vase, PLEASE NOTE 19TH CENTURY, painted with the figure of a scholar seated in a pavilion looking out towards a mountainous river landscape continuing around the whole vase, the neck with a band of scrolls and dentils, height 43.5cm

PLEASE NOTE WE BELIEVE THIS VASE TO BE A 19TH CENTURY COPY IN THE KANGXI STYLE

There are a few glaze imperfections to the vase with some 'burst bubbles' tot the glaze, around the neck and on the shoulder, and slightly around the base, there are two short hairline cracks to the very edge of the foot on the glazed area measuring 3mm and 5mm in height, otherwise in good condition with no restoration or chips.
Provenance: The vendor's father was working out in the far east from the 1920's to the late 1930's and after the war in the 1950's and '60's was buying pieces from specialist dealers such John Sparkes Ltd. Although none of the pieces in the sale have a John Sparkes label to them some additional items which will be appearing in a future sale do bear the John Sparkes Ltd label.
