A Japanese patinated bronze and enamel box and cover, modelled as a chestnut, Meiji period, the cover relief decorated with a beetle and a butterfly picked out in enamel colours, the surface with some gilt decoration, two character seal mark to base, width 11cm

There is a splinter chip loss to the green enamel on the right side of the beetles wing case, the cover is a little bit grubby and there is some wear to the base consistent with age, the interior is gilded and has some occasional tarnish spots which do not detract too badly from the piece, no restoration detected.
