Two rare George Grainger & Co. Worcester topographical low footed dessert dishes, c.1846, each piece finely painted in enamel colours with the titled views 'County Courts Worcestershire' & 'The Yew Tree House the Seat of F. Rufford Esq. Bellbroughton', within rich gilt and crimson borders bearing the coat of arms of Worcester and the city motto 'CIVITAS IN BELLO IN PACE FIDELIS', on acanthus leaf moulded and pierced stems, one with similar handles, width 27 and 24cm

Provenance:
Presented by the City of Worcester to the Mayor, Alderman William Lewis c. 1846 in recognition of his work in bringing the railway to Worcester. William Lewis Esquire was Mayor of Worcester in 1843-44 and 1846.

Both dishes with very minor wear to the gilding, otherwise good condition with no restoration, chips or cracks.
Please note the two dishes are a different shape - View of Yew Tree House - has its inscription in orange enamel where the rest of the service is in puce.
