A pair of Derby Dry-edge figural candlesticks, c.1753-55, 22.5cm, restoration to one sconce and one foot

A pair of Derby 'Dry-edge' figural candlesticks, c.1753-55, each modelled as a Bacchanalian cherub surrounded by fruiting vines, the scrollwork base painted with floral sprays, pad marks, 22.5cm, restoration to one sconce and one foot
Estimate £200-300

The first candlestick has a restored nozzle and drip pan and there is evidence of glue underneath the drip pan, there is restoration to the cherubs left arm and his right foot, tiny losses to some of the leaves, a firing crack around the top of his left leg and typical occasional areas of black speckling to the glaze all over, the second candlestick has been reglued at the drip pan to the top of the stem which is where it was made in two pieces in the first place, occasional minor losses to leaves, a splinter chip loss to the end of the big toes on the cherubs right foot and there is a chunk of clay stuck to the base where the pad has been removed, this may have been deliberate to give the base more stability, again with typical occasional areas of black speckling to the glaze, otherwise in good condition.
