Oil on original canvas which remains tight, surface of the paint looks neglected dirty with some light white blooming, slight undulation of the canvas through the sitters head, monogrammed top left corner, housed in probably the original and now very tatty gilt gesso frame, remnant of label verso with Exhibition No. 10 and title still legible but other details lost, no other inscriptions verso. Overall an honest if somewhat neglected picture that should restore to good effect.
