Lot 760 , A Victorian mahogany partners desk, W.6ft x 4ft H.2ft 6in.
A Victorian mahogany partner's desk, with Greek key tooled brown leather writing skiver, above an arrangement of nine drawers opposing three drawers and cupboards on a plinth base, W.6ft x 4ft H.2ft 6in.
Estimate £600-800
Overall a rather dull finish. The reddish mahagany has been repolished fairly recently but still looks rather flat.
Essentially the structure is good - there are a number of fine dents and scratches acquired over the years. The skiver is a later replacement that is now worn and not the best of colours.
The drawers all have mahogany linings.
One central drawer has its lock missing, the opposing drawers lining is coming apart.
Handles are all later. Some of the drawer locks are replacements and there is no key.
There are four loose pieces of moulding that need reattaching.
The plinths are quite scuffed with some patches of veneer missing.
One cupboard door panel has a vertical split.
Overall in need of some restoration but basically a sound desk.
