In recent years this domaine has risen to close to the top of the ultra-competitive tree in this famous old appellation; quite an achievement considering the Avril family eschew the production of micro-cuvees of super-concentrated wines intended to catch the attention of influential wine critics. Vintages older than 20 years are hard to find so these are not to be missed for fans of mature Chateauneuf.
