A rare Meissen octofoil shaped chamberstick, c.1770, modelled on a rare Chinese export chamberstick with a bamboo shaped central shaft, dragon handle and applied with tree shrews and fruiting vines, one end typically painted with a vignette of a courting couple in a landscape with C and S scroll gilt border, underglaze blue crossed swords mark and indistinct impressed number, 15cm diam
