A mid 19th century French silver two handled tureen and cover on stand by Jean Francois Veyrat, Paris, circa 1840, with later family inscription relating to Lillian Paravicini who played at Wimbledon during the 1920's and married to Charles Paravicini, Swiss Minister to the UK, of shaped circular form, with shell and scroll border, pomegranate finial and each piece crested with the motto "Candidior Nive", base 11.25in, French export mark, 54 oz.

The stand has an engraved inscription to the underside which reads "To John Charles Rudolf from his Grandmother Lilian Paravicini, 1952".
The stand has some light surface scratches to the centre, conducive with use. The bowl has the same inscription to the base and a couple of minor dings on the interior, otherwise the condition is good.
The finial on the lid is loose and there are a couple of minor dings, otherwise the condition is good.
