Oil on canvas relined within the past 20 years or so, canvas still tight, overall paint in rather poor condition with some wrinkling and lifting of the varnish throughout the work, this is particularly pronounced in the dark surrounding area notably running down the left hand side where alongside the figure some of the painting is starting to flake away, stretcher marks showing, signs of extensive retouching in the dark area to the left of her face and also down toward the lower right corner, some scuffing and paint loss across the bottom, not framed.
Sent for sale from a collection in Spain. Quality of the painted figures is fair to good, this is thought to be a 19th century copy of a greater work.
