Lot 324 , A rare Philip Christian & Co., Liverpool sauceboat, c.1770-75, 11.3cm high, chips and crack to base
A rare Philip Christian & Co., Liverpool sauceboat, c.1770-75, with scale, flute and shell moulded body, printed in blue with a rare version of the 'Fisherman' pattern, 11.3cm high, chips and crack to base
Estimate £100-150
This sauceboat has an unusual flared gadrooned rim compared to the standard everted rim for Philip Christian & Co. The 'Fisherman' pattern is also a variation on Christian and other factories' designs as the pleasure boat has a high second arch with a tree behind rather than the usual sail of the boat.
